May Has Been A Flowery Month

Foliage could follow up yesterday's Bloom Day, but there are so many flowers just now.  A few years ago, once the April flush of roses was complete, I had a green garden for most of May.  Now, since the clematis, hydrangeas, and most everything else is well established, since I added Hippeastrum, and begonias, and salvias, and so on, May is as flowery as April.  Yet again, a 'Wisley' shot.  I sincerely promised not to post any more photos of it, but well, it is my blog, and I am besotted...

How about Hydrangea 'Endless Summer'?  Soil sulphur sure blued up the flowers.  Not foliage, though.

The variegated lace cap Hydrangea has (so far) survived its move.  I have it partially protected from soon-to-arrive summer heat with a shade cloth.  Hey, there's some foliage!
PhotobucketI've forgotten the name of this species Orchid, the flower looking like translucent porcelain...

...and  this Begonia...

...while Gasteraloe 'Green Ice': mixes green, ivory, and coral so beautifully:

Orange Hippeastrum 'Rilona', somewhat chewed, marks the end of Hippeastrum month here.  It's the last of the Hippeastrum flowers for this year.

More monochromatic is black-leafed (Hey!  Foliage!)  Agonis 'After Dark', with starry white flowers streaked burgundy:

The Yucca linearfolia is doing well.  All foliage!

Agave marmorata(?) once a sickly 4" pup, looks decidedly adult.  All foliage.  Two in a row!

What can I say?  It's a flowery garden, and May has been a flowery month.

  2. Pretty, pretty! I love all your blossoms, especially the hydrangeas which I cannot grow.

Just enough foliage to qualify, but why not when you have so many blooms.
