Monarch Update

They're moving over to the nearby Agave augustifolia now and preparing to become butterflies.  Mission accomplished.  What a relief!

  1. Excellent! How many surviving do you have? I'm eager to see if my first Asclepias in a few years has attracted any Monarch parents.

    1. There are about a half-dozen Chrysalis on the Agave that I can see (but I suspect many more), and ten caterpillars still on the last leafed Asclepias.

  6. Isn't it interesting that the caterpillars move to another plant to pupate? Wonderful pictures of this little invasion, by the way!

    1. Well, there's nothing left of the plants they ate, so I can't say it's not unexpected. ;^) The Agave is nice and sturdy. I hope it serves them well.
