The Euphorbia 'Blackbird' I got early this summer didn't die. It grew a bit, not a lot, but some. It shows various colors depending on the light, from nearly black to burgundy to almost blue.
I keep intending to cut down the Dahlias, but they keep doing this, so I don't.
Another recent purchase, the Drakensberg Daisy.
A long time favorite, Echeveria 'Imbricata'.
The Austin rose 'Glamis Castle'.
'Pope John Paul II' again. It's having a great September, making up for its terrible spring.
'Geranium Red' was just as good in Spring as it is now.
'Souvenir de la Malmaison' looks a little camellia-like, reminding me the Sasanquas will soon bloom.
And to close, new Hellebore foliage. Fall is Southern California's "second Spring".
I hope that is pretty enough for Sunday.

Your roses are still doing beautiful. Gladly the Dahlias are continuing flowering here too. They go on until the first frost.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Sunday!
Thank you, Janneke. I hope your Sunday was lovely, too. No frost here, so the Dahlias must mildew themselves to winter sleep.
DeleteI bought a couple of Blackbirds this spring too, they got almost no water this summer, and have leaves just on the very tip. They look really odd, but I don't think they're quite dead. I promise to take better care of them next year if they live. That new Hellebore foliage is just full of promise. Definitely pretty enough for a Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alison. My 'Blackbird' got afternoon shade, and regular if modest water--perhaps that helped mine.
DeleteMaybe someday I'll have a few roses as beautiful as yours! Sempervivum will have to substitute for the Echeveria, though. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHi forest! There are great roses perfect for every climate, it's just a matter of figuring out which ones they are. Sempervivums are great, and very difficult here. I make do with Echeverias.
DeleteI began following your posts recently because your plant selections looked like things I could be growing where I live. Today I see that I guessed correctly. I'm in So Cal too, Upland actually. Are you also in the IE? Just wondering how similar our conditions are. Always looking for relevant guidance. Thanks! -Tracy
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy! I'm in Sunset 23, Upland is Sunset 18, I think, so you get the apricots, and I get (marginal) fuchsias.
