She Makes You Believe It's April Again

I thought 'Moondance' (Zary, 2007) was a beautiful rose...

...until 'Evelyn' (Austin, 1991) decided to strut her stuff.

She's such a show-off.  It's autumn, but 'Evelyn' makes you believe it's April again.

  1. They are both very beautiful roses but Evelyn does really shine.

  2. Evelyn's peachy pink petals are a lovely sight - and quite a contrast to the autumnal leaves.

    1. I would say the contrast is the best part, but no, it's the fragrance.

  3. Moondance is such a pretty rose, I do not know this rose. Austin's Evelyne is a beauty too, which I also have in my garden. Wonderful pictures!

    1. Moondance is an offspring of 'Iceberg', the old Kordes rose which is so successful in California. It's very pretty, but Iceberg is still the winner. Glad you liked the pictures.

  4. I know just what you mean ! It is almost bizarre to have the fresh peachy blooms of the roses when all around is dying. I too am a crazy fool for David Austin English roses and Sceptred Isle is flying the flag for April in my garden at the moment. Lovely photos btw !!

    1. Yep, crazy DA fool here, too. Glad you liked the pictures.

  5. Oooh, I like them both! My roses are flowering like crazy over here, as we have had a very warm summer and autumn, the cold spring delayed everything with about 6 weeks. The only exception is my David Austin roses, they are not doing so well. They are in their second year and are still quite small. I hope they will take off soon and get a bit bigger.

    1. Well, your garden is looking great, you are obviously very skilled, so maybe next year is the year those roses will "leap".

  6. So beautiful! I love fall roses. Even more roses that suffered heavily from black spot have bloomed again. They are such fighters. I really love your Evelyn. I love anything peachy pink.
