Arrival, Departure

99% of the time, when I stick a few Fuchsia cuttings in a glass of water, they quickly rot.

Not this time.  Ready to go into a pot of soil.  What did I do right?  Was it using an opaque plastic cup instead of clear glass?

Elsewhere out there, the mulching continues, as do the flowers.

'Belinda's Dream'.  I've missed this:

The sweet peas are in decline.  One near ninety-degree day might be manageable for them, several days near ninety are not.  The foliage is beginning to yellow and mildew.

How like an airport is a garden--continual arrivals and departures.

  1. Haven't thought of that analogy before but yes, the garden can be like an airport!

    1. I was thinking "train station" at first, but nowadays "airport" is more likely. Here, anyway.

  3. It's so interesting to see all of your garden's comings and goings. No sign of sweetpeas here at all yet.

  4. Your garden is so wonderful and different from our gardens in this time of year. Love the comparison with an airport.....

    1. Thank you Janneke. A garden is more fun to be in than the airport, though.

  5. I can't get over your roses. I know you've credited the mulching process but I think you have the magic touch. My sweet peas STILL haven't produced a single bloom; however, they're still growing and the foliage still looks good even though the recent furnace heat and wind fried my primroses - I continue to hope I'll see sweet pea flowers yet.

    1. No sweet peas YET?!? When did you plant them? At least it looks to be cooler this week, so there's still a chance...

  6. Comings and goings are fine, but please, no complete disappearances.
