What's Purple Out There?

Hey, that's wine, not purple!
What's purple out there today?

'Purple Splash' looks reddish.

So:  what's purple for you?

Comments

  1. I am all mixed up, I throw them all through another (bad English I think, but you will understand). Well, the purples are going a bit to wine red and the violet ones are more blue, is that right, I don´t know. What I definitely know is that all your pictures are wonderful! Love especially roses and clematis.

    1. It seems to be one color where the "warms" look good with the "cools". Mine are all mixed as well--along with every other color...

  2. A great collection of different purples there. Only got two purple flowers at the moment, both on cacti (and strangely featured in last post).

    1. Maybe it is some alignment of the planets that makes purple look good just now?

  3. NIce palette of purples! What's the "Purple-blue" plant in the second to last photo?

    1. That's the annual Lobelia erinus (some cultivar--not sure which). A great little plant. I get a few volunteer seedlings every year--never enough.

  4. Hello, I like the tuteur and the clematis together, charming. I made a post on purple. It is here: http://janestrong.blogspot.com/2014/04/so-whats-purple-for-you.html

    1. Better winey than whiny, eh? ;^) That's TZ in the picture--forget to name it.

    2. It's one of Tom Carruth's, as is one of its parents, 'Ebb Tide.'

  6. Amazing what you do with clematis!

  7. I have a few iris coming on that are really truly purple. You're pushing purple in every direction...it must be a favorite. I especially like it in combination with red.

    1. I'm trying to think of a color that is not a favorite. I even like pink.

  8. Love the Iochroma - that's a new one to me. My purples are some NOID succulents blooming in a mixed planting and a Penstemon subserratus. Everything else is blue and pink!

  9. 'Homestead' Verbena is the only purple flower currently in bloom in my garden, but there will be more later on as it's my favorite color. I have enjoyed seeing all of the gorgeous purples and near purples in your garden!
