    1. Oh, didn't mean to do that. Just points to the complicated relationship between plants and people. I thought the water-lily expert was a pretty cool guy--and a plant-nut beyond the beyond. My own affection for roses and agaves certainly is trivial in comparison.

  2. I had no idea! Yes, I found the Spaniard interesting, too. There are lots of hippy types in northern Spain - they come down to LaMancha every June when the opium poppies are in bloom.

      I found the Spaniard's devotion to plants fascinating--is there another species besides humans with the ability to devote itself to another? Well, dogs, of course. I guess I answered my own question. Are there mealies passionate about the Digiplexis, or is it just food?
