Spring In Floral Swing

'Brass Band'
All of a sudden!  This wasn't there on Saturday.  Monday:
'Easy Does It' and 'Souvenir de la Malmaison' on the left, the big pink is 'Belindas Dream', the red rose is 'Barcelona':
 Leucadendron 'Little Bit'
 'Molineux'
 It all begins
A chalky blue Dudleya has pale lime flowers
 Our very first Leucospermum flowers
 Cotula 'Big Buttons'
This 'Darcey Bussell' is abnormally crimson--normally a deep pink.
Graptoveria 'Fred Ives' is a forest of flowers
 Nasturtiums say goodbye to winter.
The neighbor's Bougainvillea says hello to spring.
It's here!  Is it there where you are?

  2. Your best post of the year. So upbeat. So lovely. It shows the many different things that make your garden so enjoyable to look at. Funny about rose colors. Mr. Lincoln looks like Charlotte Armstrong today. The rose pictured at the top, what is its name, please?

  3. Wow! Your garden is really sounding the horn to announce spring. I think mine is still feeling a little beaten up by that heatwave but the first of my shrub roses have appeared and the Grevillea are blooming like there's no tomorrow so perhaps I'll enjoy my own explosion soon.

  4. It is starting here, although in typical UK style with the constant threat of retreating back into winter. Love the dudleya flower, mine do flower but being in a limited manor compared to that.

    1. All the flowers on the Dudleya were quite a surprise. It must be happier than I thought. I could do with a retreat back to winter here.

  5. Yes, but on nothing like as grand a scale. Marvellous!

  6. Yep, spring is all around us here in Portland. Although right on cue with spring break happening next week we are scheduled to return to a bit of a colder and wetter pattern. Wait! What am I saying, that is spring in Portland.

    Your garden is looking magnificent.

    1. On the other hand, you don't have to turn on the air conditioning. Or have air conditioning...

  8. It's here, but early days, and the floral display even on days less gray and sodden than this one falls far short of those sumptuous roses. More a few pools of winter aconites and early daffs -- the color of your cotulas and Leucospermum, but without their exotic form. I hadn't realized that the end of your winter brings so many things into immediate bloom; here there's a month of poking along with grape hyacinths and pulmonaria and tulips and dogwoods before there's any thought of roses.

    1. There is a lot blooming in winter here. Summer heat makes some plants go dormant, but winter rain means winter is more like a temperate climate's spring--fresh green, blooming bulbs...

    1. Thank you! I am enjoying it very much--all the drudgery of pruning, raking up litter, and mulching is forgotten.

  10. Love every. single. photo. That dudleya...! And I love your roses so much. Spring is here in the inland foothills, temps in the 80s F, time to live outside, basically. I've been potting/repotting new agaves and cactus to the sound of bees in the lemon tree. Been drinking lemonade all morning, squeezed from warm fruit picked a minute before. Birds are singing, dogs are snoozing... ah, spring :~)

    1. Nothing better than lemonade from fresh off the tree. It's the best! I miss my Mom and Dad's stellar 'Meyer Improved'--it was always loaded with fruit. Ours is still to small to be useful. Enjoy, enjoy, joy, joy!

  11. Your spring is a blaze, while ours is more of a flicker.
