Nine Big Agaves, Three Teeth

With camera flash, the rain-wet Agaves look silvered.  We got about .25" (6 mm) of rain Saturday night.  Not a lot, but very welcome.
 A. americana 'Medio-picta Alba Aurea' gets prettier and prettier.  I think I'll put one out front in the Project area, where the Magnolia stellata is now.  A bit of an offsetter, but not nearly as bad as A. americana, and the offsets appear away from the original plant, making it easy to remove them.
Three teeth, on the leaf tips of a juvenile Aloe petricola.
 Rather charming, no?

  1. Love the three teeth! Does 1/4" of rain even do anything? Hoping you get more soon...

    1. Here 1/4" of rain does a lot! Thanks for the hope--we're doing that here, like crazy.

    1. I look at it several times a day, so often I forget how beautiful it is.

  3. We got a smidge less rain here (0.21 inches) but it was enough to freshen the garden and the air. We've had a tiny bit more late this afternoon and I'm hoping for still more overnight and more again later in the week but where in heck is the El Nino deluge?!

I love how 'Mediopicta Alba Aurea' looks along your wall. Mindful of what you said about their pupping proclivities, I spread out the 3 pups you gave me in different areas of the garden but I'd been thinking of joining all 3 in the side garden when I replant that area (if/when I ever finish the "dig" project out by the driveway). However, after looking at your wall display, maybe I'll try them in the sloped area facing the street formerly occupied by the Ceanothus hedge. Decisions, decisions!

P.S. I hope your eye is improving!

    1. The rain does help, even 1/4" at a time, but yeah, still waiting on El Nino...the irrigation has been shut off for a couple of weeks ago and the garden is okay because it's been cool. I've been spot watering from the rain barrels. Waiting and hoping, waiting and hoping...

I'll be interesting to see how the Agaves do for you. That is a beautiful plant despite the offsetting.

  4. Nearby for the holidays I cheered for you when the rain started, and we were comfortably tucked into in our hotel for the night. Did it rain there today too? It did in Burbank this morning, as we were leaving.

  5. Did you bring the rain with you? THANK YOU! We've gotten a half inch at least. Enjoy your travels--clearing tomorrow.
