More Fussing On The Front Slope

New plant for the front slope, Leucospermum 'High Gold', circled in pink below.  I moved Protea 'Mini King' about two feet to the right, in order to place 'High Gold' next to our other yellow Leucospermum, possibly 'Yellow Bird'.  'High Gold' is in the pink circle, 'Mini King' in the blue.  'Yellow Bird' is to the left of 'High Gold'.  Plants also added:  Hesperaloe parviflora in the orange circle languished in a pot for a year, Aloe suprafoliata in the purple, moved from under a Maireana that was engulfing it, and a new little Aloe striata in the chartreuse.
The silvery Leucophyllum shrubs planted last summer--I dote on those two daily.  Prettier foliage does not exist.
A year or two of growing, and this area will look satisfactory.  The local weatherman thought Sunday looked promising for rain, but I'll believe it when I see it.

  3. Your front slope looks great. Those silvery scrubs are very nice. Imagine how they would look with some rain drops clinging to them... Fingers crossed!

  5. It looks good already and it'll look great when the plants mature a bit. I've been considering whether I've been in mourning long enough over my last Leucospermum loss to try another - if a deal presents itself, I'll probably cave.

Weather Underground is showing 2 rainstorms in the 10-day forecast for this area - one arriving late Saturday and spilling over into Monday (!) and another projected for the following Thursday (!!). I'm trying not to invest a lot in the prospect but I'm afraid I'm already feeling a little giddy at the idea.

    1. Sorry to hear of your Leuco-loss--I remember from your blog some magnificent ones in your neighborhood. Mine that is big and growing like a weed has its own sprinkler--at least to get established, mine was happy to get plenty of water. Well, "plenty" by my standards. The new one I found on Monday was half the price they were at Roger's. It was labelled as a Leucadendron, but I knew better. :)

Yah, I am looking at that forecast and hoping, hoping, hoping. That one when they predicted an inch and we got a tenth of an inch still hurts--so I hope instead of expect.

  6. I've been enlisted to help a friend plan her garden. Plan? It's a foreign concept, but reading your blog is a help.

    1. Thanks, Peter. Just want to reduce the space between plants--all they need do is grow. Wait until that Leucospermum starts blooming!

  8. I love all the tweaks you're making. Succulents and southern hemisphere shrubs: a winning combination if ever there was one!
