Banksia victoriae, Woolly Orange Banksia


Rare in the wild, found only in one area of Western Australia near Geraldton.

    1. The small, newly planted ones are in little protective cages. Rabbits are a scourge here, too. Yes, the leaves are wonderful. The flowers are a bonus.

  6. Banksias are starting to grow on me. This one brings to mind the Pop Up popsicles I used to eat as a kid (which is a good thing!).

    1. The pinking-shear edges of the foliage, which many of the genus have--isn't it great? You are right, pondering that color--Creamsicle it is! There are some petite and ground cover species--many are small trees.

      I hope you can get to the UCSC Arboretum if you have not been, Kris. It was wonderful!!!
