Grocery Store Agave

 Agave horrida ssp. perotensis.

This Agave was an impulse buy from a grocery store.  It was plain, with no distinctive allure besides a low price.
Fresh from the grocery store, November 2013:

Slowly, it has grown into austere beauty.  Plants will surprise you.
It is around 18" (46 cm) in diameter now, November 2016.

Not a bad buy after all.

  2. This is a great agave. Mine is smaller but at least I know what I have to look forward to.

I'm super impressed that you have grocery stores that sell such rare agaves (heck, ANY agave for that matter).

    1. I'm very pleased with it. I hope it does not bloom for many years.

That grocery store ended up closing. :(
