My garden may not have much in the way of design, or maturity, or color co-ordination, or atmosphere, or style, or mystery, or jaw-dropping splendor...but by golly, it's got flowers!
Clematis 'Nelly Moser'. Along with 'Bourbon' and 'Ernest Markham', the earliest blooming Clematis in this garden:
Clematis 'Ernest Markham':
A Chamelaucium hybrid of some sort. From Australia:
Cercis occidentalis. I love these trees when they are bare, or when they have flowers and attract crowds of Bumble and Carpenter bees. In leaf, not so much! Horrific reseeder. Get the compact, sterile selection, 'Don Egoff' if you don't like pulling thousands of seedlings. A California native:
Aloe 'Blue Elf' in the center, with a yellow hybrid iceplant and Limonium perezii on either side.
The orange Clivia miniata are peaking quickly. From South Africa:
Gasteraloe 'Green Ice' just starting. From South Africa:
Geranium maderense just starting as well. From the island of Madiera:
I love the fuzzy flower stems
A hybrid Freesia. South Africa:
Towering flowers on an Aeonium. From the Canary Islands:
Lavender are always in bloom here
Aloe greatheadii, a small plant with a towering flower stalk
Plenty more--didn't even start on the roses--but you are probably already getting tired of scrolling.

Great post. Thanks for the floral sunshine!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, those are amazing captures, esp the clivia! Also those first 2 clematis: bravo!
ReplyDeleteI could never get tired of looking at those gorgeous blooms. Can't decide which I like the best or which ones I wish I could grow here. All of them. Such depth of color in every one. Happy bloom day.
ReplyDeleteWow..love those clemmies! Nelly has always been a favorite of mine, but she suffered from wilt in my garden. I'm not familiar with geranium maderense but I will be on the look out for it...a beautiful color! Thanks for sharing!
