While the California Golden Poppies are already in decline, though they are radiant, just the same, with their celery-rib seed pods:

Early or late, or precisely on time, ephemeral or extended, they're all good. 'French Lace' looks like the purest of porcelains:
'Sombreuil' looks like an infant's little hand reaching for the light:
'Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria' is coy, she turns away:
The Hippeastrum trumpets blare:
The velvety jumble of 'Cobra's Eye' brings a different feeling altogether. I stop. I recall both the soft feel of a puppy's ear against my cheek, and the hard truth found in a blue eye.
What matter if the Epiphyllums are early, when beauty swirls into feeling like shadows sliding across the pavement:
Tangled in tendrils of color and light, what does time matter?
Does it matter that the Epiphyllums are early?
