Begonia 'Gryphon'

Nice!  Got it at Home Depot--I'm not proud.  I like the greenish cast to the flowers and the silver splatters on the foliage.

I don't have a huge variety of shade-loving plants because I don't have a whole lot of shade.  Begonias, a hellebore or two, Fuchsias.  The Hydrangeas tend to suffer a bit even though they are all on the north-east side of the house.

My lonely Alocasia that usually vanishes for a good six months out of the year went right on growing through our rainy winter.  December was pretty cold here (for here) but 'Black Magic' went right on growing.   My guess is it liked all that water with a pH below 8.  Anyone else's Alocasias grow through winter this year?

I have no real opinions to express in this post.  Today I want only to be at peace and enjoy this spring's culmination.  I've been blogging quite steadily for over a year, and feel a need to be more reflective.  Perhaps it's the approach of summer making me feel like this, or the beautifully cool breeze tapping the silver-splattered begonia leaves, and tossing the grass.

  1. Congrats on your Home Depot purchase. I don't do piles of plant shopping there I still encounter some fun surprises. Last weekend they even had native monkeyflowers and penstemons! I really like your last photo. It's beautiful and I bet looking at it could lead to the point of quiet reflection you're wanting to attain this time fo year.
