Brief, though not for lack of flowers, but for lack of time.
The flower of August must be Amaryllis belladonna. It blooms at no other time here; it defines August in that respect. What else have we that only blooms come August? I knoweth not.
A bit of Perovskia low-key in the background, and Valencia oranges above. The juice is like liquid sugar at this time of year.
There are always roses.
I posted this stunning Agapanthus a few days ago, but love it enough to post it again. The more pale Agapanthus blooms in June. This one waits until August, and man is it worth the wait.
And the dogs are sure laid back and sleepy at this time of year. Dog days?

ReplyDeleteI also like that Valencia orange tree, You said the oranges taste like liquid sugar, wow! I've got to place it on my garden list for my future garden there is nothing like your own fresh squeezed juice in the morning.
I bet yours are delicious!
Hola there in So Cal! Nice lighting, incredible blooms, and of course your canine compadre...pretty cool for so *little time* spent on your post.
ReplyDeleteReally like your blooms, I'm a big fan of Agapanthus and I love yours. I don't grow any Amaryllis belladonna but I sure need to.....
ReplyDeleteThe agapanthus shot is amazing...really captured the color so beautifully. Happy GBBD!
