That dragonfly got too close to the surface of the pond and got stuck in the water. I dashed over for the skimmer net and rescued it before the koi could eat it.
Don't trust those innocent faces:
As I watched it, the dragonfly's torso expanded and contracted, as if it was taking in air after nearly drowning. I tried to get the beast to crawl off of the net so I could get a decent photo of it with a far more attractive background. Nothing doing. It dried off and flew away without a thank you. How about a little gratitude here, guy?
