Yes, we Southern California gardeners are in a joyful tizzy: hours and hours of soft, steady, free irrigation water, known generally as "rain". We go nuts for it, and the plants, suddenly free of a layer of dust that has built up for months, the plants do as well, bowing to the mercy of the Rain God.
Even the fish feel refreshed by the influx.
Tomorrow, foliage will gleam and sparkle, and be twice as green as yesterday.
I'll be pumping all the precious collected rain to the ultra-arid portions of the garden. Run off is waste. The ocean doesn't need it. My plants do.
However tiresome this celebration might be to those who receive regular and even too much rain--at least you know someone out there appreciates the stuff.
I'm happy for you! I'm happy for me too since it was actually sunny today. We've had rain (hard rain) 14 out of the last 15 days.

ReplyDeleteWow! That is some serious rain! We got SNOW here today. It didn't make it down to my house at the bottom of the valley but the benches got a dusting of the white stuff. Good thing I hauled all my succulent containers into the house last night!
ReplyDeleteI put out all my buckets before I left for a business trip to Reno on Tuesday. Snow ! Drove in it-winter is on the way.
