What A Weird Color!

I'm getting very used to a no-lawn lifestyle, so much so that the beautiful velvety green of this estate's meticulously groomed lawn took me aback.  Soon only the 1% will be able to afford the water for this.  The news reported that LA's water will be going up 3% soon.  3%!  Ha! Ha! Ha!  I laughed at that.  Ours is scheduled to be going up another 26%, after last year's 25% increase.  3% sounds good to me.

Those young-ish bare trees are some kind of Platanus, I think.  Nice bark:

Nearby was this pot, which was so out of the ordinary I took a second look at it.

A coral bark maple with a wooly blob of Helichrysum on each side of it, and a "string of bananas" Senecio dribbling down the middle.  Haven't seen that combo before.  Almost as much a visual shock as that beautiful lawn in this dry dry year.  I wonder what their water bill looks like.  Scary, probably.

  1. Are you serious? 26% after 25%? Good god. (I love my rain, I love my rain, I love my rain...must keep chanting)

  2. Every time I think about relocating, I read something like this (26 percent!) and think maybe St. Louis isn't too bad.
