When I saw soil sulfur was very effective at bluing up the Hydrangea, it occurred to me a Delphinium nearby would look cool. I happened to find a couple of inexpensive 4" Delphinium seedlings to test my idea.
Delphiniums are a plant that hates Southern California. Here they are ephemeral--I could not even call them annuals because they don't last that long. But just for fun, for a few weeks, it's neat to see blue and blue, round rotund blue with wimpy, skinny, vertical blue.
In colder climates, the Delphinium is more likely to be robust, and the hydrangea wimpy.
Bigger and rounder every year.
Here and gone.
This perrenial is also overhere but not in the beautiful light blue color as you showing it.
ReplyDeleteThe hydrangea is also beautiful of color.
Have a great weekend Hoover
If only there were more blue plants out there that liked the climate we can offer them. I'm especially fond of the graceful towers of the delphinium. I guess you might get to appreciate all the more knowing it might not be here for long?
ReplyDeleteThey do look great together. I also wish delphiniums (and foxgloves) would last a little longer... I finally settled for rehmannia, which isn't at all so brilliant in color, but reliably perennial and trouble free.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blue flowers, I love both hydrangeas and delphiniums, they are both very elegant.
