Just More Flower Pictures

I got the new Lagerstroemia trees yesterday, but with weeding the west slope and breaking up fights between the puppies, and not getting enough sleep, I never got around to a photo of them.  So the Lagerstroemias will have to wait for another blog post.  Just more flowers today.  Better ones of the Yucca 'Color Guard'.  What I needed was a heavy layer of June gloom.

Another Salvia, S. muirii, named for the other John Muir.  The Scotsman John Muir we Californians are most familiar with is the wilderness explorer who helped found the Sierra Club and save some of California's most splendid wild places.  The other John Muir was also a Scotsman who liked to wander in wild places, but this one did his wandering in South Africa, the source of this little and absolutely wonderful Salvia.

S. muirii shares a space with the small rose 'Precious Dream', the color of which also benefited greatly from the June Gloom.

I hope to get to the Lagerstroemias tomorrow.  There was a fresh pile of intestines in the garden, and a rabbit leg to go with them.  I skipped taking a picture of that, too.

  1. I like your idea of planting Yucca 'Bright Star' in groups. Wish we have the space to do the same!

  4. @mark and gaz, never enough space, no matter how big the garden gets.

@greggo, they would have liked the rabbit leg, too. And the intestines. Not going to happen!

@Desert Dweller, thanks, I'm trying! Groups is better, groups is better. I'm getting there!
