Who's Your Daddy?

Doing some long-overdue garden clean up yesterday  afternoon...

...I cut out a dead stem, and noticed an egg pod.
Ah!  Who's your Daddy?

I wish I could store the pod and see them hatch, sort of.  Apparently some carnivorous behavior takes place.  I think I want to skip that.  I tucked the twig back securely inside the rose bush.  I've not seen the boyfriends again, but love was obviously in the air rose.

    Cool! We don't have praying manatee here, I would have had no idea that was an egg pod. :-)

    They seem a rather gruesome species. And like Deanne, I would not have known that was a mantis egg case.
