This nearby garden is so well designed flowers seem unecessary.
A charming small shelter with sitting area:
The right amount of whimsy:
Interesting plants, including King Palms and a Caryota:
Chondropetalum...
Acacia pravissima provides interesting foliage and just a touch of flower color at this time of year:
Stone adds texture and contrast.
There are a remarkable number of trees for such a sunny garden. Most are small and some are decidious, making for a pleasing balance of sun and shade. In addition, the size of the trees is appropriate to the height of the one-story ranch house.
A fine example of wise plant choice and beautiful design, free of pretentiousness. Bravo!

It's inspiring, isn't it? :)
DeleteThanks for sharing this, a lovely garden and we both admired the garden shelter/seating area
ReplyDeleteYes I want that shelter! I believe the homeowner said she designed and built it herself, with a little help.
DeleteFoliage gardens like this one always create a feeling of tranquility. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTranquility is the perfect description!
DeleteHoover Boo, this is truly a well designed garden with its own character! I enjoyed seeing it very much and like you didn't miss the flowers at all. As a matter of fact I believe that this garden feels so calm and serene because there are no bold flowers in sight!

Even though I am a flower-aholic, I agree!
DeleteVery nicely done, I agree. The dry river bed with the acacia(?) beside the big boulder looks surprisingly natural. I see why you like this garden!
ReplyDeleteYes, Acacia. I'm not a big dry river bed fan, but this one works so well.
