Sometimes you just need to get out of the house when a bunch of guys are making a bunch of noise and dust. It's about to rain, which is the time to plant new plants, and garden centers are full of fresh stock, but most people are not plant shopping in January, so selection is at its very best, so...a shopping trip just sort of happened.
...and poor Boris has a scratched cornea and must get medicine dribbled into his eye and must wear The Cone of Shame so he doesn't rub his eye.
There's a lot going on right now. And...it's midnight. How'd that happen?

Meanwhile, back in the bathroom...
I'm painting various walls to see what colors are going to work. Also still cutting back roses, moving plants, pulling plants, cleaning up, distributing collected rainwater because more rain is predicted......and poor Boris has a scratched cornea and must get medicine dribbled into his eye and must wear The Cone of Shame so he doesn't rub his eye.

Sorry Boris. Hope you heal soon so you can shed the cone. Lots going on at your place. Retail therapy is always the answer!
ReplyDeleteIf not retail therapy, then chocolate!
DeleteGood for you! Plant shopping is the very best therapy.
ReplyDelete(poor Boris!)
Petting Boris and Natasha are right up there with plant shopping.
DeletePoor Boris! Nice plants! I'm planning a "brief" plant shopping trip today myself, even though I still have a flat and a half of thyme to plant. There are empty spaces in the garden and, as you say, rain is coming...
ReplyDeleteRain is coming. What a beautiful thought!
DeleteNothing like plant shopping to put life back on track!
ReplyDeleteDarn right!
DeleteSending waves of healing wishes to Boris. (It won't be this way forever, buddy. Eee-ventually all those guys and the dust they make will be gone, and the cone of shame will come off, and Natasha will stop being such a pain in the... wait, that last part probably won't happen; but things will get a lot calmer and you'll feel better.)
ReplyDeleteTruly exciting plant haul! I'm puzzled why gardeners aren't plant-shopping now if the nurseries are freshly stocked and planting conditions are ideal. When does business pick up? What's the seasonal or cultural signal for most SoCal-ians that "spring" has arrived?
Can't wait to see the (rising or setting) sun streaming through that Leucadendron...
We go back to the vet tomorrow. :( Thanks for the healing thoughts!
DeleteThe real gardeners are starting to prowl the garden centers here. I think it's the weekend before Easter, and the day before Mother's Day for the non-gardeners.
I understand your remodel fatigue prompting the need to get out and buy plants. Right now I'm suffering from sickness fatigue. I have a cold and cough hanging on in its third week, as soon as I can muster the energy I'm going straight to the nursery. Poor Boris.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well, Alison. Take care of yourself and get well, so you can grab the best plants ASAP!
DeletePoor Boris! So embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteNeither of us can be happy if one of us is not happy.
DeleteOh Boris boyn I hope you get that cone off when you go back to the vet. You look cute even with the cone on.
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom remodel is a long dragged out process. It will be worth it no doubt.
Ahhh, plant shopping. I can't wait to do so myself. I keep buying books. I have had to go to the library to try to staunch this urge. Not helping much. Ha...
The vet said this morning it is healing, but slowly. He's feeling okay. I haven't put the cone back on--it will have to go back on for the night.
DeleteBooks, good. Library is good, too. Ours had some sort of flood that ruined the electrical system, and was closed for like a year. People are happy it is finally open again!
