Rosa 'Fair Bianca':
Someone was asking about the puppies. They will be six months old in just 9 days. Natasha is reserved, quick-witted, bossy, and build like a brick.
Boris is affectionate, gentle, and lanky.
Why is there a dark spot here in the sun?
The puppies are looking more grey than white lately. They need a bath. More white is 'Fair Bianca', a very non-vigorous Austin rose that puts out a few perfect flowers each year, but little else. I relegated it to the part of the garden meant for roses I wish would die, but cannot bear to kill off myself. It's been there for years.
There it is at the foot of a golden Duranta, not much better off--a trim would help.
The neighbor's filthy Eucalyptus continually drops its endless crap on this area. I would have to pay to have the Euc trimmed back to the fence line, and it would not be cheap, and it would grow back quickly. Sigh. Nearby is a mystery plant that also should have died years ago, being that it gets no water at all, but it manages to survive. The flowers are beautiful. It was sold to me as Artemesia 'Valerie Finnis', which must be incorrect, but what is it?
The foliage is beautiful, too, nearly white it is so silver.
Seems more like a Senecio to me. It deserves far better treatment than I give it.
In a better spot this year is Rosa 'Secret Garden Musk Climber' enjoying the new arch strong enough to support its vigor. It completely defoliated from black spot, and just as quickly leafed up again and put out this flush of bloom. Like I said, vigor.
While acting as a screen for the garbage bins doesn't seem to qualify as a "good spot", common boring Tracheospermum jasminoides (did I spell that right?) looks happy enough:
I love the sweet fragrance, though it makes me sneeze.
Nandina domestica flowers just beginning to open, another shade of white.
Rosa 'Purple Splash' varies in the amount of white in each bloom. Some are very white, some are very purple. The initial color is a deep red that ages to a good purple. This is the roses's second year in my garden. I think it will be a good one.
Look, Natasha! A shadow shaped like a puppy!

I love your silver-foliaged 'artemesia', but that Purple Splash rose is really something.
ReplyDeleteThis artemesia is so beautiful. The white flowers in combination with the silver foliage is brilliant. Never saw it before. Love to see your climbing rose flowering so well. I had 3 huges ones but last winter they are frozen about 1 cm above the soil. Winter wants to teach me patience I think. I like your dogs.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Hoover
Ha ! Bet my Fair Bianca looks worse than your Fair Bianca.Absolutely can't bring myself to get rid of it. She lives next to Michelangelo..what a contrast-it's like Billy Barty standing next to Kobe Bryant.
ReplyDeleteAnd those naughty puppies !
