I'll be away until I've dug the Cercis stump out... ...and until the koi pond UV is upgraded... which I hope will be before the trickle of ripe tomatoes turns into a torrent. Gardening interferes with enjoying the garden!
I know it's too late, but from experience it's easier getting smaller tree stumps out if you leave a 5' tall stump or so -- something you can grab on to and use for leverage.
