Did You Get A Plant For Christmas?

This blogger did, an Agave salmiana var. ferox 'Medio Picta'.  There are at least two offsets in the pot as well as the main plant.  What a wonderful present--thanks, Sweetie!

Besides the wonderful Agave, Christmas brought some dreadful wind.  The usual smashed pot or two...
And the usual large amount of palm trash blown over from the neighbor's trash palms.
At least there is an Aloe arborescens flower peaking through the fence...
And Grevillea 'Peaches and Cream' has proffered a winter flower.

  1. I did not get any plants, but I did give a few. That pot fell from a height, right? I always get nervous seeing "heavy" pots placed high. They never seem to be heavy enough to withstand every gust.

(Must make a scary noise when it hits!)

    1. Better to give than receive! The pot fell from the little side table, a drop of about 2'. The pots crashing went unnoticed as the wind was roaring like a freight train.

  2. Nope - no new plants for me this Christmas (other than that I finally brought home my ever-growing stash from work - more on that later). Of course I timed the homecoming spectacularly - on the one afternoon we've actually had snow. Go figure... The one completely unexpected gift I got that might be the one most relevant to future blog posts, was a camera tripod! Hope to give it a whirl this afternoon! Happy New Year to you! :)

  3. The wind in your area must have been much worse than it was here. No broken pots but the skunks are wreaking havoc. I received one tiny sempervivum tucked into a new pot but that was it. However, I did get 2 nursery gift cards, one of which was almost immediately spent. I'm waiting a bit for the other garden center to clear out the holiday goods and restock its plants before I make the trek there but it'll be gone soon too.

    1. Yes the wind was bad here, and more expected Wed-Thurs, oh joy. I got a card too, and am waiting for restock as well. :)

Darn those skunks! They belong in the neighbor's yard, not yours!

  4. Nice Agave! My feeling of being somewhat simpatico with your weather ended on the 26th, when we flew home. At about 4pm on the 24th we were leaving Ventura headed to Thousand Oaks (and family) when the wind ubruptly kicked it into high gear. I watched a huge palm frond fall on a car along Main Street (Ventura) and there's no way it didn't dent it. Crazy stuff. Now we're back in the land of grey skies and rain, although coming up we've got blue skies and extreme cold with wind. Ugh. Plants though...plants...I did buy myself a few while down in the land of sun, poor things are going to be tortured for the next few months...

    1. Oooh, Ventura, some interesting plant vendors in that area...I have no doubt you will take good care of your new plants. They will make it! Still hoping you get sun and we get rain.

  5. No plants for me! :( Your variegated Agave is lovely, so too the Aloe and Peaches and Cream is one of the prettiest grevilleas.
We have had some unusual weather too, high winds, storms and some rain which was very welcome, the rain that is.
    xoxoxo ♡
