The west slope a few weeks ago, with California poppies, Arctotis 'Burgundy', and the merest hint of orange Russelia equisetiformis adding color to 'Bright Star' Yuccas and striped centerpiece Agave americana 'Medio Picta Alba Aurea'.

Deleteque bien te estan creciendo, felicidades. un abrazo desde Plantukis
ReplyDeleteGracias, Raúl!
DeleteOooh! Wait, is this the slope you recently replanted? Already beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis was Fall Project 2012, which took me until 2015 to finish. Frustrating that none of the plants has really grown that well because of the drought, but they did benefit from our measly winter rain. The poppies really help fill it out a bit.
DeleteJust perfect. I've got to get myself a few 'Bright Star' yuccas. They're hard to find in the Sacramento area.
ReplyDeleteI have an offset you can have. They are just starting to produce them here.
DeleteJust lovely. This is the type of picture you post that invariably makes me want two things: to garden in Southern California, and to visit your garden one day.
ReplyDeleteCome on down next time you are in the area.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phillip!
DeleteA nice mix! I've yet to come across the burgundy Arctotis. One area planted in 'Pink Sugar' in my front garden has bloomed itself almost to death, leading me to cut it back dramatically, but I may replace it altogether - it tends to look awful in summer.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% on 'Pink Sugar'. It's like a baseball player on steroids.
DeleteI have plenty of 'Burgundy' to share. It looks fairly good all summer. We should have a plant swap.
Beautiful! Bold forms and hot color - love it! That little California poppy is so wonderful - and tough as nails too. I want to have big drifts of it in my next garden. The one I'm in is so shady, I bet they would just flop...
ReplyDeleteYes it absolutely needs full sun. I spent a good amount of time throwing Hummannia seeds up there as well as CA poppy seeds, but only the CA poppies emerged.
DeleteBeautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteThanks! One of my happy accidents.
