The pond started the day like this:

In between was a lot of work. Steppers put back where they belong:
All plumbing completed, and gravel added to the area:
The pond floor carefully smoothed out:
Underlayment around the pond walls, here with the return TPRs and the overflow drain:
Then the big heavy 45 mil EPDM liner:
Spread carefully out:
And dirt moved to an out-of-the-way area, for me to deal with later. I kind of don't want to think about that right now. I want to think about how great the pond will be in just a few days--probably completed and fish back home on Monday.
Today the coping will be cemented back on around the edge of the pond, and grouted. Just enough water will be added to the pond to allow the liner to be made as smooth as possible. Wrinkles hold gunk and prevent it from being moved down the bottom drain, reducing water quality. Every wrinkle possible will be smoothed out. Then it is a only a matter of adding dechlorinated water and koi (in that order).
