It is important (to me anyway) to have a gorgeous garden view from every window in the house. Some garden designers are aware of this idea. Others are oblivious to it. The original designer of our garden was sadly one of the "others". I've been puzzling how to fix window views ever since.
I planted 'Crepuscule' where i did because there was nowhere else, and inadvertently created a great view:
The view of Rosa 'Ambridge Rose' is not quite so good. It seems to be trying to climb in the window.
Though, with the shade down, I love the shadows cast:
The view from the front door could be much better. I'd dearly love to screen out the neighbor's house across the street.
This view isn't so bad:
This one is fabulous, but only when it's foggy. Otherwise we're looking at the neighbor's playground equipment:
A plaque and a pot added something to a blank wall:
In the dark,
And in the dawn:
A shadow cast by a summer sunrise...
...and the gloom of rain...
...we look outwards from places other than home. In India...
...and St. Helena...
Inside somewhere, looking outward.
Great post and collection of pictures! Looks like you have a pretty sweet bunch of windows and some not to shabby views. I'm currently mourning the dropping leaves on our two parking strip trees. Gone in my leafy curtain and now for the next 5 or so months I'll be looking right at the (insert negative comment here) neighbor across the street. Let's just say we don't share a design sensibility.
ReplyDeleteLovely window views. You have worked magic.
