A Beautiful Way To Start A Day

I cannot over-emphasize the importance of taking immediate action when the first gopher-damage is spotted.  I saw damage this morning, found the tunnel, set the trap, and had the bugger dead in less than an hour.

It had dug under this rose:

Gophers find the root systems of roses delicious.  Thankfully quick action means this rose still has most of its root system.

Your mild-mannered blogger, who turns into Darth Vader where gophers are concerned.

O what a beautiful morning it is when a gopher dies.  Because a rose lives!

  3. @Masha, I have a huge straw hat on with a big fabric rose on it. It sure made a funny shadow, didn't it? Maybe more like the Wicked Witch Of The West than Darth.

@danger, you don't want gophers, believe me. What a mess they make!

  4. Hooray Hoovb! Another evil rose killer slain. I have finally gotten the hang of it, and although I still planted my new tiny roses in wire cages, I think I have the upper hand now. Mikey has been putting hash marks in my shovel handle- there are now fourteen!

  5. Cool, Renee. I've often thought I needed to start painting little gophers on the garage door, as if the door was a WWII airplane with marks signifying enemy planes downed :)
