In his prime:
He loved to nap in strange positions:
He wore The Cone Of Shame with pride:
Would do anything--anything--for cheese:
Always wanted to go out:
Always wanted to come in:
Loved his pack:
Loved other people's food:
Had his own style:
Did a pretty fair impression of a Golden Retriever (for cheese):
Mold broken after manufacture:
Ever vigilent:
Ever watchful:
Always loved.

The bastards have a phrase for everything and they are always right.
To say goodbye is to die a little. -- Raymond Chandler
Oh god. I should come back and comment later after I've composed myself but to hell with that. I am so so sorry. This just sucks, my heart is hurting for you.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteSo so sorry. Tears here.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad that you lost your beloved Hoover Boo. May he rest in peace, and may you have many fond memories.

So sorry to read this. As a fellow dog owner I know how much part of the family they become.
ReplyDeleteI have tears in my eyes. I know how much you loved this sweet soul.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI lost a border collie named Hondo five years ago. We raised him up along with the boys. He was a special companion. I understand that quote.
I am so sorry that you have lost your beautiful Hoover,my thoughts go out to you in your time of sadness. Our pets become so much a part of our life they are friends, companions, child-like in our eyes and hearts and yes we do die a little when we have to say goodbye.

Thank you all so much for your kindness. We all feel unexpectedly lost. Hoover had a huge personality and he filled our home to an extent we only now realize.
ReplyDeleteOh Gail I'm so very sorry. You know that I know. Tears here in Ohio from another of Hoover's admirers. How lucky you were to have each other. And your pictures are bringing back so many memories of Yukon. He slept exactly like Hoover did.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you. My heart is heavy and I send warm thoughts and strength to all those whose lives Hoover touched. I know he left his paw prints on so many. I'm sending prayers for peace to you... Hoover has found his. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI'll always remember your special Mr. Bartky, even though we never met! In a way, I think we met via the near-miracle of cyberspace.
You take care, and I look forward to more of your grt posts!
I'm tearing at your loss, and so very sorry you had to say goodbye. But happy for you that you had beautiful Hoover Boo in your life. In this beautiful and moving tribute, he lives on.
ReplyDeleteOh, Hoovb, how sad! I didn't want this post to be what I thought it was, but I loved getting to know Hoover through his photos - so happy and comical and full of personality. I know the loss is heavy and painful for you and your family. I've lost a Sweet Boy, too. It's a hard thing not to have him close to you anymore, to touch and to hug, but he's always there with you.
ReplyDeleteI don't check in for a couple days and find you finally said good-bye to your magnificent friend. Thanks so much for sharing him here. Huge hugs to you and Hoover Boo's family.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all again for your kind thoughts.
