The Winter Project bogged down as expected. I had to wait for my mow-blow guy to get rid of the stump, which he did on Saturday. In the meantime, I weeded the slope a bit. The new impediment is now a big pile of spare soil. What do I do with it? Distributing it bucket by bucket around the yard takes a lot of time; having a professional hauler come to take it away costs money and isn't particularly "green".
While I ponder that situation, there are plenty more early roses. 'Ebb Tide':
The first 'Pure Poetry':
'Eugene de Beauharnais' and his heavenly perfume. This rose needs smell-o-blogger for full appreciation:
Budding but not in bloom yet is the $3.99 Lowe's Death Rack 'Belinda's Dream', already doubled in size and as healthy as it could possibly be:
'Rose Rhapsody' is one of those Jackson & Perkins introductions that vanished far too quickly. It is productive, vigorous, has strong stems, a decent fragrance, and superior disease resistance. But there were too many other new roses in the pipeline, I guess, so J&P abandoned it before many people bought it. A shame.
It does have the odd quirk of a long, bare neck. Foliage does not begin for several inches down the stem. Hardly a fatal flaw, but a bit strange.
'Eureka's flaw is a lack of fragrance; other than that, no complaints:
And I've posted 'Barcelona'/'Francis Dubreuil' recently, but I hardly think you can complain about seeing it again:
Along with 'Easy Does It'...
...they are the two most advanced this year:
As to the puppies, they spent yesterday afternoon putting the "toy" into "toilet paper", an entire mega roll shredded and scattered everywhere. Why did I not take a photo of that? Too busy cleaning it up. I waited until evening, when they were sleepy and the Cute Dial was cranked all the way up to 11. Other puppies have Cute Dials that only go up to 10, as you know.
I hear them at this moment, tearing up something new. Must go see. Bring mop, broom, dustpan, poopie bags, paper towels, disinfectant, hand sanitizer...good thing that Cute Dial goes to 11!
I think the cute dial went to at least 15!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you still have Pure Poetry. I remember how you babied that little cutting I sent you lol.
Wow they are all so healthy and beautiful. I can't distinguish anymore which is the rose and which is the puppy. I love to cuddle with those pups, really-really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely roses, especially like Pure Poetry.
ReplyDeleteLove your remark about your puppies putting the toy in toilet roll.
My dog wasn't interested in toilet rolls, he went for paper towel rolls instead, probably because they are bigger and he could make more mess with them.
