Yellow-flowered Leucospermum, Phormium 'Yellow Stripe' (I think), Agave attenuata 'Kara's Choice', and a golden Arizona Cypress. Nearby, Agave desmettiana variegata and Coleonema 'Sunset Gold' did not make it into the frame. I wish I was so disciplined in my color choices. Multiple colors always seem to sneak in. A bit of the Coleonema in the vertical shot below:
Yellows in a bowl:
Well, not quite. Burgundy and orange snuck in. And magenta. And oiled bronze.
Unfortunately, I can't resist adding other colors. No color discipline. No wonder my garden looks like a confetti factory.
Orange is so like yellow...
Then we edge near to red...
And blue follows.
Oh, to have color discipline! Look how elegant monochrome can be:
That I shall never achieve. It's confetti-land for me.
Great photos as always. I love the last one with the contrast between the two plants.
ReplyDeleteI'm no good with monochromatic plantings either. I'm too fond of volunteers and they never are the right color.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous garden photos dear Hoover, I love yellow, I would say it is my favorite colour but there is always room for other colours...the orange flowers are lovely.

All your gardenplants are so special. I love your rose Koko Loco. I tried to find it overhere but it's not there. Beautiful post.

@Spiky, yes, it's a subtle combination, isn't it?
ReplyDelete@Alan, I'm worried first about plants actually growing--color always falls by the wayside.
@dianne, thank you, I like yellow, but I love orange. They are both such cheerful colors.
@Marijke, I really want the Koko Loko rose, but have not gotten one yet, so I photograph it when I see it as compensation. I am a silly gardener!
I love yellow. I have many yellow roses-Sun Flare, Sun Sprite, Graham, Happy Child, Golden Celebration and the unfortunate Toulouse Latrec that I can't bare to get rid of in spite of his shortcomings.
ReplyDeleteHi ks, your comment reminded me Toulouse-Lautrec was a beauty. Mine got crown gall. I miss the purity of his yellow. :(
