ReplyDeleteHi Hoovb, I recently came across your blog and am enjoying reading your thoughts on Austin roses. Love your photos too! I am new to gardening/roses and have about 20-something in containers ready to be planted. My front yard is pretty small and was wondering how far apart should I plant them. I really would like to pack most them in if possible. Thanks so much, annie
ReplyDeleteThank you Marijke!
ReplyDeleteAnnie Cat, you are in Houston, a hot climate that will make the roses very vulnerable to blackspot fungal disease, so try to give them as much room as possible. Remember, you have to get around each of them to deadhead and so on. Also, Austin roses can get very large in warm climates, at least double the size of what the Austin website says. Some of the Austins are very small growers, and some get huge. It would help to know which ones you have. Good luck with your roses and enjoy, and thanks for stopping by my blog.
