Clematis 'The President':
The pepper plants are making a good temporary hedge. Not to mention peppers to eat. Dahlia 'Mystic Haze' there in the background. I'll have to move that because the color doesn't quite work. It was supposed to be 'Mystic Illusion', which is yellow, but...it wasn't:
I do not miss the lawn at all, though Cuddles does.
Where's my lawn?
I filled in the area on the other side of the path with lilies, a blue pot with a boxwood in it, Geranium 'Rozanne', annual blue lobelia, Carex 'Red Rooster', and a couple of compact "Mystic" Dahlias with their dark chocolate foliage.
Orangy-yellow 'Mystic Haze' belongs elsewhere--the color doesn't work, but 'Mystic Dreamer' seems to agree with the area, and I hope will match up with Lily 'Candy Club', which is just about to bloom.
Blue pot:
Lily 'Costa Mesa', rose 'Tamora', and Geranium 'Rozanne':
No, can't say I miss the lawn at all.
Elsewhere in the back garden, 'Bishop's Castle' continues to bloom and bloom.
'Golden Celebration', too.
Even the mint!
And as usual, 'Belinda's Dream', looking quilled today.
All that, and peppers, too.

It looks all so beautiful. I can understand you don't miss the lawn at all. Your composition's are great.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
Thank you Marijke, I think the green of the pepper leaves helps--it is the same green as grass...
DeleteBeautiful! I actually love the orange dahlias with the blue, blue and orange are complementary colors and they work great
ReplyDeleteThe Dahlias do look good with the Geranium, but they don't seem to work with the pale apricot roses, for some reason. The oranges don't seem to match. :(
