November? Really? With Iris?
And Delphinium? (Delphinium!?!)
And Hydrangea?
And Clematis? November?!?
Yes! All taken November 14, 2012. The roses are expected. The others are a slight surprise.
The roses are having a fabulous November, which is one of the best months for roses here. The warm days and cool nights make colors deep and rich, and the flower size large.

This Mantis on 'Bishops Castle' was stretching her "arms" towards the sun. Enjoying the last warmth of autumn?

Many thanks, as always, to May Dreams garden blog (link) for hosting Bloom Day.
I hope your Bloom Day is beautiful! To close, Tagetes lemonii, in golden glory. Yes, that's one plant. The blooming Aloe in the foreground is 'Cynthia Gitty':
Amazing and beautiful blossoms in your garden.

Thanks Dianne!
DeleteGlorious roses! Like your green garden friend, I can feel the warmth eminating from these images. I'm shocked to see delphinium, though as I thought that your summers would be too hot for it. Happy GBBD! P.S. Just Joey is an alltime favorite of mine for it's subtle color and wafting fragrance.
ReplyDeleteDelphinium is a (feeble) annual here, but it's hard to resist that incredible blue. I buy a 6 pack of seedlings every few years and get a few flowers. Happy GBBD back at you!
DeleteThat Tagetes lemmonii is amazing - some people here have it, calling it Mt Lemmon Marigold. Today - would be a tie between 'Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria' and 'Bishops Castle', except an iris in Nov beats those! (like some January lilacs that surprised me my 3rd winter in Abq)
ReplyDeleteSeems it is never going to rain again, though...
We rejoiced over 0.10" here last week, and are hoping for more. I got 15 gallons in my rain buckets--such a treat!
DeleteI absolutely love roses, your post was a joy to read - I especially loved 'Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria'. My roses was badly attacked by black spot this year due to the cold and wet summer we had, and they haven't really picked up the pace yet, but I have both hydrangeas and clematis with flowers and buds. I live in London and we have 5-15 degrees Celcius (night/day temp) at the moment. Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteHappy surprise that hydrangeas and clematis are in bloom for you. 15C seems to be a temperature here at which most plants are very happy as well. Happy GBBD!
DeleteOh, beautiful! I, too, have an iris blooming - silly thing! But your hydrangea still blooming is amazing! Your roses are lovely. Love the mantis, too. Sweet! Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteThanks HolleyGarden!
DeleteYour garden looks fabulous and by the photos I would never guess it is from November! I love your variety of roses and they all look so healthy...and the praying mantis-what a great shot! Happy GBBD to you! It was fun visiting!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee. I just wish I had some of your design talent!
DeleteSuperb! your roses are just gorgeous. It looks like high summer there and not November
ReplyDeleteThanks Deanne. A bit overgrown now, but an excellent autumn overall.
DeleteOMG...I want an Iris right now too!
ReplyDeleteThey are easy to grow and fun to photograph!
DeleteYour roses are amazing--I have rose envy. Our garden is so shady that I only have two sad--but much loved--tea roses. The blooms in your garden are just amazing. The iris is gorgeous, and the clematis? I'm now counting the days until spring. Your garden is simply lovely. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Sometimes I have shade envy--nearly zero in my garden--especially on a hot summer day. Shade, sun, it's all good, right?
