Wednesday Vignette: A Whole New Life
My late lamented Yucca linearifolia has a whole new life as Addams Family Cousin Itt, just in time for Halloween.

Eeeek...
ReplyDeleteBut in a good way?
DeleteThat is far more brilliant than it ought to be.
ReplyDeleteI love playing with dead plant matter: oversized and now skeletonized flower stems, bulbous root crowns, thorny canes. Cactguy hosted a fall earth sculpture event last year that used such materials to great effect, and who can forget Floramagoria's orange bamboo? I've done the same with the thickest canes off a Dahlia imperialis. Apart from rooting when you don't want them to (and that's after a season or two's worth of drying out), they're a nice, if flimsier substitute.
I have several Aloe marlothii flower skeletons. Candelabras!
Deleteand thanks for the link. Cool stuff.
DeleteGood humour has replaced the loss. I said Cousin Itt instantly then I read your caption!
ReplyDeleteIt made me feel a lot better.
DeleteFantastic! =D Nice way of turning a negative into a positive, albeit a short-termed one!
ReplyDeleteThat lemons -> lemonade thingy.
DeleteThanks for the morning laugh! Cousin Itt looks quite fetching in his western garb! Love Itt!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a toy gunbelt, so Itt can be an Outlaw, too?
DeleteOMG...you nailed it. So So So excellent!
ReplyDeleteItt's redemption!
DeleteThis is BRILLIANT! I got a good laught out of it. Absolutely perfect for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteA little whimsy is a good thing.
DeleteSo very clever! It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Elvis cape would be going to far. ;^)
DeleteGood idea to give your Yucca linearifolia a second life, so funny.
ReplyDeleteHappy you liked it!
DeleteAwesome! I love it (Itt)!
ReplyDeleteItt's better this way.
DeleteI love Itt! I don't suppose you can hang on to it for use in future years?
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering/hoping if Itt can come back from a root. I got a new 'Bright Star' and several dozen 'Margaritaville' that way.
DeleteHave been gathering images of spooky-looking plants on a pin board, but this one won't make the cut because Itt just makes me laugh too hard. Brilliant save. Hope the Y. linearifolia can come back, though I imagine that would be a multi-year process?
ReplyDeleteNot more than a decade, I should think. But worth the wait, surely!
DeleteOh, that is simply BRILLIANT!!!! And it made me laugh - love it! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy you liked it!
DeleteOMG, ZZ Top is in your garden!! And the plants in the background frame him (Itt?) perfectly. An absolute scream ;~)
ReplyDeleteAll kinds of screams are good for Halloween. :^)
DeleteLove it!! Very clever. :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
