Above: I didn't drop a bag of perlite
On Monday not only did it rain, it also hailed. We are at 14"+ (355 mm) of rain for the season (October 1-Sept 30). This is 1" (25 mm) over our historic average for an entire rainy season.
A little icing on the rain.

Hey! Your hail was bigger than my hail! Doesn't it make a great sound?
ReplyDeleteHail envy! ;) It was loud here--we have an aluminum pergola over the balcony and it was ringing like a bell.
DeleteUnfortunately many succulents are extensively pockmarked. I thought they would escape because the hail was mixed with rain. Well, they will grow out of it. And can grow because of all the rain!
Jeepers. Could be England in May!
ReplyDeleteSo for 10 minutes in January, we were England in May.
DeleteThe weather is just going crazy all over the world. It has actually been DRY here all week in Portland.
ReplyDeleteFirst a huge snowstorm, and now dry?!?
DeleteHail! It was cold here but not that cold! According to our (re-calibrated) rain accounting, our season-to-date total is a miraculous 16 inches. I hope my succulents don't rot.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised how long it took the little piles of ice to melt. Several hours.
DeleteYes we have exceeded our historic seasonal average. Tomorrow's drought map tomorrow should look different!
Oh no...hail and succulents are not a great combination.
ReplyDeleteYeah...
DeleteDoes this begin to fall into the "be careful what you wish for" category?
ReplyDeleteNot yet! Soil is nicely moist, but not soggy. Yet.
DeleteWow - your plants must not know what hit them! It must feel like a spa visit for them - luxurious abundance! The stack of clay pots with a doll's head on top made me laugh! :D
ReplyDeleteNew growth everywhere, and weeds! Haven't had weeds for five years. Haven't missed them, either.
DeleteFound that doll's head in the gutter on a dog walk. It reminded me of those ceramic baby statues several gardens had on the Portland Fling.
Wow. Hail is impressive to watch but I hate what it does to succulent leaves.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear about your rainfall totals.
Umm, yeah, some leaves were uh...affected. But the rain has been miraculous.
