In A Vase On Monday: Red And Yellow

In A Vase For Monday--a meme I enjoy very much but rarely participate in.  It became obvious that these big beautiful flowers deserved a vase display: Grevillea 'Superb',  one of the last Leucospermum 'Yellow Bird' blooms,  'Firefighter' rose, a pom-pom form Dahlia new this year, and a stem of Leucadendron 'Blush make a yellow and red mix to express summer heat and sunshine.

'Firefighter':
New Dahlia, name lost identified by Nell as 'Funny Face':

    1. Thank you! The Dahlias kind of insisted. They are show-offs.

  2. That's HOT! I love how the little white daisy in the first image is looking longingly at the gorgeous colorful vase...

    1. That's a daisy for you. You know how jealous they can get.

  3. This is wonderful, HB! I love the fiery colors and I always enjoy seeing your beautiful roses. I can't believe you have dahlia blooms already. Stay cool! We awoke to a heavy marine layer this morning but it's not going to last long.

    1. Thanks! Dahlias like it here. I wish I'd saved the name of that pompon Dahlia. The one I saved the label for never sprouted, of course.

Heat, not as bad as more inland. It's been cooling down at night here, which has been wonderful. I worry we're going to end up getting hot nights for the next few days, which is pure misery.

      Have fun on the Fling!

    1. Bright colors are needed to hold up to our intense (and constant) sunlight!

    1. When I made the bouquet, that was my reaction as well! Our long stretch of June Gloom made the flower colors all the more intense.

  6. The light and shadows in the first photo render a dramatic arrangement even more so. Each component has its own WOW factor...together, they are off the charts.
