  1. What a bounty! I thought your aloe almost-blooms were fabulous and then you showed off those luscious roses. I've yet to try growing any form of Erica but you just convinced me that I need to do so.

    1. There is a big and gorgeous collection of SA Ericas at the UC Santa Cruz Botanical Garden--that's what inspired me to try a couple.

  2. Gorgeous photos and flowers! For the 'Love and Wishes' salvia, when do you prune and how much do you take off? Thanks for brightening the day with your plants!

    1. I've been pinch-pinch-pinching 'Love and Wishes' constantly, taking off just a couple of nodes below each flower stem, once the stem has finished blooming. A few stems every time I walk by the plant. Any stem that looks tired and woody snapped off at the base. This has worked unexpectedly well.

Happy the flowers brightened your day!

  4. So many wonderful blooms! I can almost smell that marvelously fragrant little Tagetes - that's a great one that I wish would thrive in my shade. The second shot of Peaches and Cream and the last photo are just swoon-worthy, in my humble opinion.

  5. Yay! Blogger has let me back in. I’ve been trying to comment on your blog (and others) for days but for some reason have been deemed persona non grata. The bathroom is coming on well, so envious of your SIX windows. It’s all downhill when it gets to tiling.
And on top of all that, now glorious blooms. Happy Christmas, in case the portcullis comes down again.

    1. Sorry about the problem. I have trouble with it myself from time to time. Buggy, I guess.

Is the downhill the good downhill, or the bad downhill? I just wish I could clean the entire house and have it stay clean for a few days. Everything is covered with construction dust, including the dogs, despite the plastic zippered barrier.

Envious of your Australia adventures, so we're even! :^)

  6. Aloes! Roses! Grevilleas! And on and on. What a sight for tired eyes! I came THIS close to buying an Erica speciosa a month ago. Now I wish I had!

    1. Not only are the flowers beautiful, the foliage is also. Just FYI, I read E. speciosa wants somewhat more water than most of the SA ericas.

That mass of SA ericas at the UCSCBG is so awesome, isn't it?
