It rained again yesterday. Just around .2" (5 mm). Combined with the previous day's rain, also about .2", that is pretty significant for our region. I didn't get to enjoy it much, being totally focused on completing the painting and clean up in the remodel, so we can actually use our new bathroom. Maybe this weekend. Almost there.
The garden got its own "remodel": a deep soaking.

We mostly missed out on this last storm, getting only 0.03/inch or rain. I was outside this morning pulling water from my rain barrels to water seedlings. The ever-shifting extended forecast is looking drier now with only a couple of spitting sessions showing in March.
ReplyDeleteThe Thursday one seemed to hug the mountains and foothills. Orographic lift. Over time the rain evens out--sometimes our area gets the rain, sometimes yours does.
DeleteI always feel like every rain will be the rain will be our last for the season, and save every drop I can. As long as it stays relatively cool, the soil will stay moist and the plants will be happy.
I love your label for this post! We all do get irrationally happy about the rain... We even got snow!
ReplyDeleteThis winter has been heaven here!
DeleteThe local news was showing snow here and snow there, Pasadena, for example. I was happy ours was all liquid. You got some snow?
We are hoping for our 5 mm on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteMay you get 10!
DeleteYour garden is going to feel so luxurious after all this rain.
ReplyDeleteIt already does. I swear I can hear the plants singing in a joyful chorus.
DeleteGlad you got your share of the rain! In my semi-tropical area, we have received over 21 inches since the first of the year, an abundance I deeply appreciate whenever I think of previous droughts we have experienced and when I read about the stingy amounts falling in other regions. Enjoy your new bathroom!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm happy you got a good amount of rain as well. The plants here continue to celebrate. I just finished painting in the bath/closet/bedroom, so it's time for me to celebrate, too.
