Gorgeous. I'm impressed by how tall and hefty your dark Aeonium ('Zwartkop'?) are. Your garden looks to be ahead of mine by some number of weeks in many respects. Leucospermum 'Brandi' is blooming but 'Goldie' is still covered in tight buds and I've seen all of 2 California poppies.
ReplyDeleteThe wall next to the 'Zwartkop' holds them up nicely so they can get very tall. Without the wall they fall over.
DeleteYour freesias were ahead of mine. Odd how timing can vary relatively nearby but yet plants growing in the UK thousands of miles away can bloom at the same time as here!
Quite lovely indeed! The dark foliage of the Aeonium 'Zwartkop' is a gorgeous partner to all the other bright blooms.
ReplyDelete'Zwartkop' makes a dramatic accent. It's best to give it some support as it gets tall so it doesn't fall over and pop out of the ground,. Root system is small and shallow--roughly the dimensions of a slice of bread.
DeleteCasablanca is beautiful, that dark heart!
ReplyDeleteYes the dark center is very striking. The species has a yellow center.
DeleteIt's always a feast to my eyes to visit your blog. Having so much color so earlier in spring must be
ReplyDeletea fantastic thing. Have a wonderful day.
Your garden looks so pretty! I love those dark leaves of the plant that I think people have said is Aeonium. I love the combination of the poppies with the lupine.
