  2. That picture of the massed orangey things on a slope is stunning.

    1. It's an Aloe hybrid, maybe Aloe megalacantha mix. I've never been sure. It reblooms for months and months.

  3. I'm glad to see that your beautiful roses weren't spoiled by the late-season rain. I look at your Leucospermum and hope mine will be nearly as vigorous some day. And I feel pure envy over the Clematis. Happy GBBD, HB!

    1. Some of the roses got spoiled, but not all of them. One day that Leucospermum will abruptly die, because that's what they do, but in the meantime, glory!

  4. It's been sunny and dry here for a couple of weeks. The garden is getting a lot of attention. That photo of the first Leucospermum 'Yellow Bird'...wow. Just wow.

    1. I think the grey and rain bypassed your area and hit us instead, for which we are very grateful. Win-win!

When 'Yellow Bird' decides to bloom, she don't mess around.

  5. I was going to mention how that first flower made my heart leap, but then I saw all your other roses...sigh, they're all beautiful! All your blooms are special, of course, but your rose collection is really dreamy!

  6. Leucadendron 'Pom Pom' has the star quality of the showiest magnolias, the ones with white petals and red to purple centers. (That I just read up on last week, but whose names I can't for the life of me call up now. It's named for a plant hunter. M. sieboldii!)

    1. I looked up that Magnolia. What a beauty! I love Magnolias. The neighbor planted a M. grandiflora right next to the property line (stupid! bad!) but I love to stand on the wall and put my nose into the flowers and inhale deeply. Mmmmm! I have to cut back whatever grows over the property line, so it is only a Halfnolia.

  7. Oh wow, all so stunning. Every time I see your photos of 'Easy Does It', I want one. The blooms are most unusual and I love that color.

    1. 'Easy Does It', I recommend it, very good disease resistance to the foliage, excellent repeat, and you will have room for it because it has a petite, vertical habit. Even a little fragrance.

  8. Love all of your blooms. They are exciting to see. I have never had so much blooming at one time. Love those yellow roses.
Here we had a freeze last two nights. There are some mushy looking plants but most look ok. I covered a palm I have on the front porch and a Lemon tree that is on the patio. They look ok so far today.

    1. Freeze, yikes! Lemons are the most cold-sensitive citrus. Glad to hear you got it covered and it is okay.

Austin's yellows are so very good. Or else they just like Southern California.

  9. I love your photos of your plants! Such a wonderful garden. The Rose ‘Easy Does It’ is amazing. I have never seen petals shaped that way. Thank you for cheering me up!

    1. The scallopy petals are one reason I like that rose so much.

Happy you enjoyed the pictures. Stay strong, this crisis too shall pass.

  11. Well you have some great blooms there Hoov. Yellow Bird is to die for, and I love those scallop-y petals on Easy Does It. My roses are just coming on, and since I am working from home I can visit them as often as I wish !

    1. Glad you get to keep working. So many have lost their jobs and are in deep financial trouble. Beloved is able to work at home also--we've been very fortunate so far.

If ever Google Earth takes pictures during YB's bloom season, I think we'll be able to spot those flowers from space!

  12. Hi! For some reason your photos won't show when I look at your post. Very odd. I wonder if it's a problem with my laptop.
