Because Recent Events Have Been So Awful

I worked diligently on a post about a few new plant purchases.

However, the news has been so dreadful, just some flower pictures seem more appropriate.  Because the garden is a place for healing.

  1. Yay! Your flowers especially the day lily and cuphea, have certainly put on a happy face brightening up the day's gloomy news. Good for you.

  2. I could not agree more. Lovely blooms - they bring hope.

  3. I think you were right just to focus on the beauty and positivity of flowers. I don't bother to tune in to the news much anymore (except the Space X rocket launch. Now that was really something). Your garden looks gorgeous. Can't believe you have dahlias blooming already.

    1. I watched the SpaceX launch. I lived the first part of my life about a mile from the SpaceX HQ in Hawthorne, so they are like locals to me.

That one Dahlia which is 'Tahitian Sunrise', got going much faster than all the others. Why I don't know. Most are just waking up and emerging.

    1. Worse and worse it seems to get. What seemed strong is full of cracks.

  6. Thanks for that! The news is heart-wrenching. There are protests scheduled locally here (which is a major anomaly) and the Sheriff's Department seems to be taking a responsible position in standing back so I hope they remain peaceful. If it wasn't for fear of infection and violence, I might be participating.

    1. This country's problems seem self-inflicted. Nothing handled with anything like wisdom and reason.

  7. Absolutely perfect! A bit of peace in a riot of color whispering hope. I especially like the fuschia peeking out of the hydrangea, like it is looking to see if the coast is clear, whispering hope.

    1. Happy you enjoyed.

Triteleia laxa 'Queen Fabiola', bulb native to northern California but grows great here in SoCal as well. My clump of it has been growing for 20 years undisturbed, and flowers every May into June.
