Pairings

The restrained peach of the rose with the muted lavenders of the Salvia

The pale yellow of the hydrangea flowers and the pale yellow edging of the Abutilon

The grey-green of both the Agave and the Lotus, with a contrast in shape and texture
The silver and sea-green of both the Lomandra and the Ballota, again in contrasting shapes and textures.

How about adding in some green and lavender, with Salvia 'Blue Hill'?
Bright light green Pittosporum against the bronze new foliage of Eucalyptus globulous

Pittosporum 'Ivory Sheen', with Acer palmatum against a background of Eucalyptus and Jacaranda.
Shaggy Liatris foliage paired with the beginnings of its own flower stems
Saturated red Canna flowers and its dark foliage.
Silvery foliage of Aloe dhufariensis with its orange flowers

  1. All choice pairings, and a great beauty shot of Natasha - she knows how to pose! I love the variegated Agave with the hairy Canary clover but I wonder which will engulf the other first.

    1. She looks so serene and noble in that photo, the exact opposite of her personality, ha ha!

The hairy canary has already won. Didn't take long at all.

  2. My cannas died last winter. I didn't get them dug up and we had a really cold spell that did them in unfortunately. I just love to see those towering flowers.
Give that big fuzzy wuzzy Natasha some skritches from me.

    1. I'm enjoying Cannas much more than expected. I love it when the plants surprise me.

I will do that for Natasha. She's irresistible--her coat is like goose down.

    1. I wish I had thought of it, but it was yet another happy accident.

  4. The Ballota, Lomandra and Salvia vignette is my favourite. Cool and sophisticated. However, Natasha and her resting spot are pretty close too.

    1. With plants, trios always seem best. Two dogs on their sofa is chaos.

  5. That rose looks so good I could eat it.
