Agave Christmas Tree/Wreath

Both 'Medusa's finally in the ground.  There's one.

This summer's and fall's purchases are finally in the ground.  'Meyer' lemon, two Grevillea nudiflora 'Medusa',  Salvia 'Celestial Blue', Leucadendron 'Chief', Protea 'Clair', Leucospermum 'Blanche Ito'.

'Clair' went to  the right of 'Celestial Blue' and behind a 'Sunset Gold' Coleonema that has struggled to establish.  Yes, everything is too close together.  I moved 'Celestial Blue' several feet to the right of 'Clair.  A little better now.

The veggie raised bed stuffed full of Agave 'Blue Glow' offsets is emptied: many given away, four planted near the oak tree.

Nothing motivates planting like impending rain.  It enlivens the gardener as much as it does the garden.

There it falls!

While rain fell, under shelter there was time to set up an Agave Christmas tree:

Then, in the night, a crash.  Uh-oh.

There it falls:

My error.  pot too small, not enough rocks.

It's okay.  Try again.  Bigger, heavier pot, more rocks (even though I couldn't lift the pot--the rocks filling it were indeed heavy--just not heavy enough.  What about a wreath instead?

Hmmm.  Needs work.
It's Christmas Eve. Remember to relax.  Relaxation inspiration provided by Natasha:

  1. Life provides an endless series of lessons. I'd have never guessed that the agave tree would topple like that. I hope you can successfully channel Natasha's vibe and enjoy a relaxing and peaceful Christmas - with ample treats tossed into the mix.

    1. feather-light, but catches the wind. We had some gusts to accompany the rain and kabom.

If we all had Natasha's vibe no one would get much done, but we'd all be very relaxed and happy.

Peaceful day to you and your family!

    1. Thank you but I'm just not very "crafty". I'm better at digging holes and watering.

  4. Cool Agave Christmas tree, too bad with its early demise. The wreath is a clever next best thing. Nothing says 'Merry Christmas' like a belly rub!

    1. Loree is brilliant at wreaths and mantel-scapes.

Me, after 5 minutes am ready to scream.

Yep, tummy rubs and a marrow bone to chew and watching their Man cook. Their favorite kind of day.

  5. I love your creativity. The agave tree was inspired even if a bit short lived. Have a wonderful holiday. Enjoy the rain, probably the best Christmas gift at the moment.

    1. Rain is the best! Not having to water anything for weeks is a treat.

Hope your holiday was a delight.

  6. The wreath is a wonderful success - much more appealing use of the agave.

    1. And then it will go into the compost and back into the garden. No waste.
